Alka Lamba is a Congress
politician and current MLA from Chandani Chowk Assembly seat in Delhi. She had
won this seat on AAP symbol, but had developed differences with Arvind Kerjiwal over a resolution against Rajiv Gandhi. Congress has given her ticket to fight
Delhi Assembly Election, 2020 from the same constituency.

Alka Lamba had gotten in
limelight in late 1990s as a student leader. She had won DUSU Presidential
election on NSUI symbol. More than, the president, she was known for her fiery
speeches and eagerness to raise concerns of students from their academic and
administrative problems.
Career
It was natural for Alka
to join Congress as she was involved with NSUI for long. She had even fought
Delhi Assembly Election in 2003 as a Congress candidate from Moti Bagh
constituency. She couldn’t win this seat, in spite of rather a wave election
for Congress and Sheila Dixit. She joined AAP in late 2014 and was given ticket
from Chandani Chowk. Her term as an MLA will be remembered as a controversial
one. She was involved in many dog fight, especially with BJP’s O. P. Sharma.
She has also used uncivilized language on her social media platforms against
top BJP leaders.

- Alka and Lokesh had one son, who is currently staying with Lokesh. The couple had developed differences when Alka had started to give more time to her political ambitions.
- Apart from being the DUSU President, Alka was also the national president of NSUI and General Secretary of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee. She was also a member of National Commission for Women (NCW), which was quite controversial as she had made the name of a rape victim public.
- An AAP worker had made a very personal and obnoxious comment against Alka Lamba, asking her about the father of her 22 year old son. Alka had responded by slapping the AAP worker.
