Antonio Maino is the President of Indian National Congress Party. She is the longest serving president in the history of Congress since 1885. She is better known by her second name; Sonia Gandhi.

Antonio Maino was born and brought up in a small village in Italy. There is no authentic information about the profession of her father. There are some people who alleged him to be an agent of KGB. However, there are no documents in the public domain which can substantiate this claim.

Antonio Maino had met Rajiv Gandhi at Cambridge. She was not a bar tender as being alleged. She used to work at the hostel bar of Cambridge University as a part time job where she had a chance meeting with Rajiv Gandhi.

Antonio and Rajiv had tied the knot in 1968. At that time, Antonio was 22 years old.

Antonia remained out of public life after marriage. She was absolutely away from politics even when Rajiv Gandhi was the Prime Minister.

Antanio had become an Indian Citizen in 1983, 15 years after getting married. She was granted citizenship as per provision of the Citizenship Act, 1955. However, it may be noted that she had applied for Citizenship only after the demise of her father. As long as her father was alive, she didn’t apply for the Indian Citizenship.
