Akshay is currently the SP of Udupi. This district is known for being communally sensitive and that's why he had also said that maintaining communal harmony will be his first priority.
Career
Akshay has done B. Tech in Computer Science in 2011. He has short stint with a software firm as a software engineer. However, in 2013, he had decided to prepare for UPSC Civil Services examination. His first posting in Kernataka was in Dakshina Kannada district.
Later, he had worked in Gulbarga as ASP and Chikkamagaluru as SP.

- Akshay Machhindra has gone through a litmus test in Udupi bathroom video recording case. He was criticized, but has managed to keep communal harmony in the area. He didn't let any unwanted events happening in highly surcharged environment.
- Akshay has also done a big blunder in Udupi case. He had named three victims while talking to the media. This was not a small mistake. You just can't name female victim in this type of case. That was unbecoming of an IPS officer.
