Sujeet Pandey is a 1994 batch IPS
officer of UP cadre. He is known as one of the most honest and hard working
police officers of UP in the contemporary times. He has recently been appointed
as the commissioner of Lucknow.
Sujeet Pandey has alwasy been a no nonsense officer. He is known for never making any compromising. He has been punished for this virtue many times. It is believed that former DGP Sukhlan Singh had side lined him during his tenure. It was O P Singh who had brought him back and had requested Yogi Government to transfer him to some responsible position.
Yogi Adityanath Government has
introduced commissionerate system in Lucknow and NOIDA. The government is
expecting that this system will improve the law and order condition of these
two cities and also help in opening a proper channel of communication among
various arms of government. And, they couldn’t find a better choice that Sujit Pandey for this post in Lucknow.
Profile and Wiki of Sujit Pandey
Sujit Pandey was born on 1st
August, 1968 in Patna. His father’s name is Narendra Kumar Pandey. He has M. A.
in History from Patna. In fact, it is Patna from where he has completed all
education and had also prepared for Civil Services Examination. In 1993, he had
cracked UPSC CSE and was allotted IPS with UP cadre.
The family of Sujeet Pandey is basically from Bhagalpur. As a matter of fact, his father was also an IAS officer of Bihar cadre.
Apart from being the SP of 12 districts in UP, Sujeet had also worked with CBI for 7 years. He had investigated many high profile cases, including Nandigram massacre and Bombay Bomb Blast (2006).
Sujit Pandey is married and till
recently was living in Prayagraj with his family.
It may be noted that the
commissionerate system for effective policing was recommended by Dharmveer
Commission in 1977. Unfortunately, no government ever tried to implement it in UP.
The biggest obstacle was to convince IAS officers. It is believed that IAS will
lose its powers in cities where Commissioner system will be in place.
