Dr. Beela Rajesh is a 1997 batch IAS officer of Tamil Nadu cadre. She is known for showing amazing administrative capability when Covid - 19 pandemic had hit Tamil Nadu. Her stint as Health Secretary was also little bit controversial because of her referring to Tablighi Jamaat as 'Single Source' in terms of spreading the menace of Covid - 19 in the state.

Dr. Beela was then removed from the Health Ministry.



Biography/Wiki
Dr. Beela Rajesh had cracked UPSC CSE in 1996 and was allotted Jharkhand Cadre. Yes, she was originally from JH cadre. However, after marriage, her cadre was reallocated and she had gotten Tamil Nadu.

Career
Dr. Beela Rajesh has a mercurial career till now as an IAS officer. Whether working in Jharkhand or in Tamil Nadu, she has become a beacon of hope for millions of young girls of India. Her life is an inspiring story of perseverance, honesty, integrity and dedication to service. 

As the Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, Tamil Nadu, she had done great work to check the onslaught of Corona Virus outbreak (nCOVID19 pandemic) in Tamil Nadu. However, she was not able to co-ordinate properly with the Intelligence unit of the State Police resulting in two costly failures - Tablighi Jamaat and Koyambedu Clusters.

Before this, she was the Commissioner of Indian Homeopathy and Medicine.

Her husband Rajesh Das is a 1989 batch IPS officer of Tamil Nadu Cadre. It may be noted here that Beela had married Rajesh in 1992, five years before becoming an IAS officer. That was a love marriage. Rajesh Das is originally from Odisha.

Interesting and Lesser Known Facts:
  • The cadre of Dr. Beela Rajesh was changed to Tamil Nadu from Jharkhand on the order of the High Court. She had filed a case in this respect.
  • Dr. Beela was once termed as the best State Health Secretary in India in light of steps being taken to control nCOV – 19. 
  • Recently a Twitter user from Tamil Nadu was threatened by the Cyber Cell of Tamil Nadu. He had posted two videos of Beela Rajesh where she was giving contradictory statements. He had questioned the knowledge of the Health Department about spread of COVID-19 in Tamil Nadu. For these two videos, he was threatened. The police asked him to appear before it when the national lockdown was in force and he was in the USA. It is alleged that police has taken that idiotic step under pressure. 
  • Dr. Beela Rajesh has been succeeded by J. Radhakrishnan, one of the best IAS officers of the current generation as the Secretary, Ministry of Health, Tamil Nadu. 
  • Rajesh Das, the husband of Beela, was recently accused by a trainee woman IPS officer of misbehavior. On her complaint, Rajesh Das was sent to compulsory leave. He was then working as the DGP (Law and Order), Tamil Nadu.
