Colonel B. Santosh Babu was the Commanding officer of the 16Bihar Regiment. His regiment was involved in the bloody face off with the Chinese forces on 15^th June. Unfortunately, Col. Santosh was killed in action while protecting his motherland, along with 19 other brave hearts.

Biography/Wiki

Hailing from Telangana, Colonel Santosh was known for being on the front in many operations against terrorists in Kashmir. He had joined the unit at Galwan valley only recently. He was leading the team which went to remove the illegal tent put up by Chinese inside the Indian side of LAC. Unfortunately, he was trapped in a well - planned strategy of Chinese forces. He was killed by drowning into the lake water (by force or accidentally is not known yet).

Santosh was the only son of his parents. It is quite natural that they are feeling deep pain. But, they are still feeling proud as their son has sacrificed his life of the nation.

The family of Santosh Babu is residing in New Delhi. He is survived by his wife and two children - daughter Abhigna (9 years) and Anirudha Babu (4 Years)
The Chinese forces have also suffered huge casualties. However, the PLA has not released the exact data.
The Government of Telangana has announced ex-gratia of Rs. 5 Crores to Shaheed Santosh Babu along with house plot and Group 1 equivalent job to his wife. The Government has also announced Rs. 10 lakhs to other soldiers who were killed in action in the same face off.
