Tukaram Mundhe is an IAS
officer of Maharashtra cadre. He is known for following strict work ethics and being crudely honest officer. He has never been accused of any wrong doing by anyone. Needless
to say, he has gotten immense love from the people of Maharashtra.
Biography/Wiki
Born and brought up in a
poor farmer family of Beed district, Tukaram had decided to become an
administrator while being in the college. He had started to appear in the UPSC
CSE from 1997. He had cleared Maharashtra Public Service Commission Examination
in 2001 and had joined as an officer in the Finance Department. However, he had
continued to prepare for UPSC CSE. It took eight years for him to crack the
UPSC Civil Services Examination.
Tukaram Mundhe has
suffered a lot in terms of getting transfer orders. He has worked under the
Government of Shiv Sena (MVA), BJP (NDA) and Congress – NCP. Unfortunately,
people have seen him getting punished for being honest by all Governments. When
it comes to keeping faith in inefficient and corrupt officers, all politicians
behave in the same way.
Tukaram has worked as an
IAS officer for around 16 years. He has been transferred for 17 times in his
career. His recent transfer was from Nagpur where he was working as the
Municipal Commissioner.

- Tukaram Mundhe is a 2005 batch IAS officer. His All India Rank in the IAS (UPSC CSE) Examination was 20.
- Tukaram was tested Covid – 19 positive one day before getting transferred from Nagpur as the Municipal Commissioner. That was something a heartless order of Uddhav Thackeray.
- Thousands of people have come out on the street of Nagpur on 11th September when Tukaram was putting his paper and leaving the orange city. People were demanding stay on his transfer order. It is a rare scene in the contemporary times. It may also be noted that four years back people of Nasik had also shown the same level of love for Tukaram Mundhe.
