Meenu Kumari is known for heroic efforts to check crime in her area. She employs unique and innovative ways to do so and creates minimum possible problems for the general masses. She has also been termed as the Lady Singham of Bihar by respected magazine Fame India.

Born and brought up in a humble middle class family of Purnea, Meenu had cracked the UPSC CSE without having any high profile college profile. She has done graduation from Mahila College, Purnea. Mr. Rahman of Patna helped her. He took Rs. 11 as fee and teaches her entire General Studies for Civil Services.

Meenu has served as the SP of Khagaria, Purnea, Sheikhpura and Jahanabad. She is one of the most popular police officers of Bihar.
Meenu is the third woman from Bihar to have been allotted the home cadre in IPS. Kumud Chaudhary and Manjari Jauhar were other two. It may be noted that none BIHARI woman after 1979 had been allotted the Bihar cadre. It means Meenu has become an woman IPS in Bihar after 30 years (who is also a resident of Bihar, there are many other woman IPS in Bihar in between, but they are from other states).
It was also rare when an IPS officer was made the SP of his/her home district. That has happened with Meenu Kumar. She was appointed SP of Purnea in 2017.
