Syed Zafar Islam was always a great admirer of liberalized economy. The prime reason why he had joined the Saffron Party is the syncing of economic perspective. He loathes socialism and communism. He had joined the BJP on April 5, 2014.

Zafar Islam is in the panel of national spokespersons of the party. He is a known liberal Muslim face of the BJP and can be seen putting forth the views of the party on various issues at news channel debate shows. He was also instrumental in bringing Jyotirao Scindia to BJP.
