Vinay Tiwari is a 2015 batch IPS officer of Bihar cadre. He is currently the City SP of Patna. He is known as an upright, honest and ethical police officer.

Born and brought up in a lower class middle family in UP, Vinay Tiwari had cracked IIT – JEE entrance examination. He had studied from a reputed coaching institute in Kota. He has done B. Tech in Civil Engineering from BHU – IT. The childhood dream of studying in BHU and becoming an engineer was over once he had taken admission. Soon, he started to pursue his next career goal and that was to become a civil servant.

Vinay had cracked UPSC CSE in 2014. Unfortunately, he couldn’t get IAS, his first choice. He had to settle with this second choice of services – IPS.

Vinay Tiwari had become a talking point at the national level because of him being quarantined at Mumbai. Later, CBI had started the investigation of SSR case and Vinay Tiwari was allowed to go home by the BMC following order of the Supreme Court of India. Soon, the news of him being sent to CBI on deputation had become viral. It was said that he will investigate the SSR case. This has turned out to be fake news propagated by some over enthusiastic social media users.

Vinay Tiwari was recently in news for the misbehavior he had to face in Mumbai by Mumbai Police. He was sent by Gupteshwar Pandey to lead the team that is investigating the mysterious suicide of Sushant Singh Rajput. Fearing Vinay, Mumbai Police used a novel idea to stop him. They had quarantined him for 14days.
After keeping him in quarantine for four days, BMC had to release him when the Supreme Court of India showed its displeasure to the treatment meted to an IPS officer. In the end, Maharashtra Government did all those quarantine or house arrest drama to not let Vinay crack the SSR suicide case. They knew that once taken dive, he will solve the murder/suicide mystery.
